Checkpoints are set up along each stage, similar to an aid station in a traditional marathon or ultramarathon.

Checkpoints are placed roughly 6 miles apart, and are dependent upon course terrain, critical directional areas, the passage of mileage, and staff and medical access.

Checkpoints will be staffed to record times and location of athletes and to provide athletes with their water ration and a place to rest. Staff will evaluate athletes’ ability to continue and address concerns as necessary.
